Job Description Summary This position supports the Vice President of Informatics, Strategic Innovation, Planning & Business Development. The role is responsible for developing and facilitating the strategic planning process, and managing the identification, analysis and disposition of external investment opportunities that contribute to the effective implementation of the BD Integrated Diagnostic Solutions (IDS) commercial strategy. The successful individual will be part of the Business Development team that develops the external innovation access strategy for BD IDS, aligning diverse business functions in the assessment of external partnership opportunities, and communicating the commercial strategy to corporate stakeholders. Critical capabilities will include the ability to work both independently on multiple concurrent projects, advise commercial platform and business leaders on strategic planning and portfolio management, and to influence diverse functional business stakeholders in a matrix organizational structure, and to perform detailed analysis of complex commercial and technical projects relating to BD IDS business interests. The role will be accountable for: Supporting the creation of the overall BD IDS business strategy with the IDS leadership team. Leading the communication process for the supported business platforms to internal (US, regional, and corporate) and external stakeholders. Proactively communicating business strategic objectives with external innovators (emerging companies, academic researchers) Prioritizing and leading detailed analyses that address strategic threats and opportunities across BD IDS. Raising awareness of emerging strategic opportunities, and organizing multi-functional teams for nimble opportunity assessment, and implementation planning. Defining and leading the strategic planning process and facilitating the creation of strategic objectives for BD IDS business platforms. Monitoring and reporting BD IDS key imperative scorecards. Ensuing alignment of BD IDS functional groups (marketing, R&D, operations, program management) with the overall business strategy. Identifying and assessing selective external opportunities in support of the strategic objectives, leading due diligence exercises, developing opportunity business cases, and implementation plans. Qualifications Bachelor??s degree (advanced degree strongly preferred) in a biological science; microbiology/virology/molecular biology background an important asset MBA and/or 10 years business experience in product development, marketing, technology investment with demonstrable increasing strategic responsibilities Financial modeling skills and strong communication/presentation skills required to interact with senior executive management Ability to effectively communicate with clinical stakeholders (customers, KOLs, physicians) relating to diagnostic medical practice, clinical workflows, and emerging medical technologies Demonstrated understanding of product development risk assessment and management Primary Work Location USA MD - Baltimore Additional Locations USA NJ - Franklin Lakes Work Shift Full time
