The History Regents Instructor will work selected students at Transit Tech High School and Groundwork for Success, an afterschool leadership and college readiness program operated by Good Shepherd Services, to assist program participants and select students of Transit Tech High School of varying academic levels in either Global or US History regents preparation. Reports to: Senior Program Director, Groundwork for Success Location: Transit Tech High School, 1 Wells Street, Brooklyn, NY 11208 Hours: 6-8 Hours/Week, Non-Exempt; Variable and flexible day time and afterschool Hours from February through June, 2019 leading up to the June Regents Exams. Major Duties: Provide individual and group instruction in Global and US History regents exam. Provide study techniques and assignments that can be completed by students between sessions. Identify problem areas and implement approaches and/ or seek advisement when necessary. Communicate and coordinate with staff and program leadership regarding progress. Periodic assessments of students progress reported to program director. Limited additional hours will be expected as needed in preparation for June Regents exams. Qualifications: BA degree preferred, with experience working with adolescents. Regents Preparation preferred and high school tutoring experience required. Excellent classroom management and engagement skills required. Must have a commitment to work from a strength based and/or youth development perspective.
