A well-established nonprofit organization that has a focus on human services is seeking an Assistant Controller to join their team. This position reports directly to the Controller, and supervises a Senior Accountant, Payroll Manager, AP Supervisor and an Accountant.
Preparation, control and review of payroll process including preparation of journal entries, review of changes and control of payroll database.
EMS investment accounting.
Estates and trusts accounting.
Managing insurance coverage including renewals, claims, payments of premiums and interaction with brokers and insurance companies.
Managing banking operations including opening/closing accounts, changing authorized signers, claims, etc.
Preparation of analyses for various balance sheet accounts including prepaid and deferred charges, accrued liabilities, investment accounts including realized and unrealized gains and losses, miscellaneous accounts receivable, security deposits, payroll withholdings and liabilities.
Prepare schedules for A133/Single Audit
Point person for Head Start Audit
Prepare special reports for Board and Executive Committee meetings
Assure appropriate cross training of accounting staff.
Assist in year-end and program audits
Other duties as assigned.
BS/BA in Accounting.
Minimum of seven years of progressive responsibility.
Strong supervisory skills
Proficiency in computerized accounting systems, ADP payroll and Microsoft Office.
Prior experience completing A133/Single Audit Schedules
Prior knowledge of Financial Edge a plus
