Healing made personal.Roles & Responsibilities:Clinical / Technical / ServiceDirect and plan the development, implementation, and oversight of emergency preparedness initiatives and programs for Mount Sinai Health System that increase the ability of system and hospital operations to remain effective regardless of disruptions caused by internal or external emergenciesResponsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive and operational emergency operations plansDevelop and maintain effective working relationships with all system and hospital service lines and departmentsAnnually update the hospitals hazard vulnerability analysis to prioritize activities in the all-hazards emergency management program in accordance with strategic plan goalsConduct research and analysis of guidance and policies to assist in emergency management activitiesGuide the hospital in completing emergency preparedness grant deliverablesSupport the Hospital Incident Management Team by providing intelligence and recommendations before, during, and after real eventsProvide on-call administrative and leadership support to Hospital Incident Management Team MembersOrganizational/ManagerialLead the departments performance improvement activities at the assigned Mount Sinai Health System HospitalServe as the chairperson of the assigned hospitals Emergency Management Committee and as a member of the Mount Sinai Health System Emergency Management CommitteeServe as the Emergency Management representative on the Hospitals Environment of Care Committee/Safety CommitteeEnsure compliance with all applicable governmental and accrediting agency emergency management regulations, codes, and standardsParticipate in other working groups and committees including, but not limited to the Information Technology Steering Committee; Workplace Violence Committee; Crisis Communications; and Construction Planning GroupsIdentify problem areas within hospital operations and develops plans for corrective action, implementation and follow-up to ensure resiliency of operations during disastersMaintain relevant documentation including up-to-date plans as well as meeting agendas, rosters, and minutes from meetings to ensure accreditation survey readiness at all timesMaintain up-to-date documentation for emergency contacts among Mount Sinai Health System Emergency Management team members and external agenciesParticipate in the hospital Daily Leadership Huddle representing Emergency ManagementCoordinate the readiness of primary and alternate hospital command centers inclusive of plans and equipmentPrepare annual Emergency Management budget proposals for your assigned Mount Sinai Health System Hospital for review by the Vice President and Operations Director, Emergency Management and hospital Chief Operating OfficerManage the disaster assessment and reimbursement process following disastersRepresent Emergency Management at hospital-wide department head meetingsParticipate in monthly Mount Sinai Health System Emergency Management meetings representing the hospitalOversee the procurement, management, and routine inventory of departments emergency supplies and inventories including but not limited to equipment used by departments for decontamination; evacuation; and downtime proceduresComplete Environment of Care rounds as indicated and appropriateMaintain clean, orderly, and effective workplaces by purchasing and maintaining supplies and work stationsWork with other Emergency Management team members to collaboratively manage the Mount Sinai Health System mass notification system serving as the hospital point of contactRecruit and supervise part-time and full-time staff and volunteers as necessaryEducational/Professional DevelopmentResponsible for leading trainings and HSEEP-exercises as directed by hospital leadership and/or the priorities set forth in the hazard vulnerability analysisOrganize emergency response training programs and exercises for Hospital Incident Management Team members, business hours and non-business hours staff, volunteers, and external respondersOrient new hospital staff to the emergency management program by developing and delivering the Emergency Management New Beginnings Orientation presentationEvaluate planned exercises and real emergencies by producing an After Action Report / Improvement Plan for each significant event in order to identify strengths and areas for improvementEvaluate and monitor emergency management corrective actions through performance indicators and other metricsCommunication/RelationshipsServe as the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the hospital for New York City agencies and ensure that all local/regional responsibilities are coordinated among key partners during preparedness initiatives and / or emergency responsesServe as the New York State Department of Health Commerce Systems Coordinator serving as a point of contact for the hospital for Emergency Management functions and responsibilitiesServe as the point of contact for the National Disaster Medical System serving as a point of contact for the hospitalServe as the hospital point of contact for the Greater New York Hospital Association providing information for planning and response activitiesCollaborate with Mount Sinai Health System Emergency Management and other facility emergency managers to integrate emergency management activities throughout Mount Sinai Health SystemDisplays courtesy, tact and patience during interactions with all members of the hospital staff and extended communityEstablishes and maintains positive community relations by establishing working relations by establishing working relationships specifically with Greater New York Hospital Association, New York City or local Health Department, and New York City or local Emergency Management agenciesAdheres to Mount Sinai Health Systems legal and ethical standardsMay be required to perform other duties as assignedRequirements:Bachelors degree in Emergency Management, Hospital Administration or related topic;
