Global online ecommerce company that sells tickets (sports events, concerts, plays, etc) seeking sql server dba that has a passion for working to automate wherever possible, and enjoys using all tools and technologies available with SQL server. This will report into the SQLserver architect/sr dba. You will be mentored on the newest and complex usage of SQLserver. Really exciting opportunity for someone 1-3 years exp.

A well-rounded DBA to maintain our production servers and work with developers so some sql dev skills required. Also must have strong SQL development, optimized queries, stored procs...They must be eager to learn, as we are always pushing forward with the latest tech SQL has to offer (we will be on SQL 2017 soon), and understand the sensitivities of an 24x7 OLTP production server. We fully utilise our on-prem SQL Server technologies and we are now pushing out with the Azure part of our infrastructure. We are a small database team for our company's size and we are looking for a DBA with the right kind of enterprising mindset, a passion for infrastructure, learning and automation: a problem solver who enjoys a challenge. You will be also migrating software from dev, to test to prod and working on performance tuning, optimizing queries, store procedures. Strong SQL desired.

What can we offer you?

You will be part of small development team working in the New York office. However, you will spend time with the main DBA team in London, particularly when you first join. This isn't only to bring you up to speed with our standards, culture, tooling etc., but also feel we have great culture of learning, that we want to give you the flavour of to continue in the New York office.

What would your role be?

Your actual day-to-day will be a varied mix of long and short-term projects, as well as providing ongoing support in the following areas:

  • Peer review database changes from developers and release to prod. You will ensure their changes are performant and suitable for an OLTP system.
  • Support uptime of our servers: troubleshoot issues that may arise e.g. excessive CPU usage, mirroring latency, unexpected log growth. Experience in troubleshooting availability groups is very valuable. Some of this may require responding out of hours.
  • Maintenance: We will always be dealing with patching, space issues, query issues etc. We try to automate away as much as we can with powershell and tooling.
